Before Michael Rich became an executive assistant at the United Way of New York State, he spent a decade owning and operating a salon and spa in Albany County – honing an entrepreneurial and relationship-building approach that serves him well in the nonprofit sector. At the United Way of New York State, which advocates for policy changes in Albany and supports local United Way chapters, Rich has helped advance initiatives to make the local resource hotline 211 more inclusive, responsive and culturally competent and to increase its awareness in the LGBTQ+ community.
